LUCKNOW: Health department officials on Wednesday said that active cases of novel coronavirus in the state have come down drastically. The decline has been over 90% since the peak of 3.1 lakh cases recorded on April 30.
“The number of active cases in the state as on date is 28,694, which is more than 90% down since the peak,” said additional chief secretary, heath and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad. He also informed TOI that about 15,000 of these patients were under home isolation, while others were undergoing treatment at different government and private medical centres.
Meanwhile, a mild surge in the number of new cases was recorded in the past 24 hours according to the official bulletin on Covid-19. Data showed that while cases over the past few days have been under 1,500, the number went up to 1,514 on Wednesday.
The number of recoveries, however, maintained the pace with 4,939 people either completing isolation or discharged.
The ACS said that the overall recovery rate for the state has climbed to 97%. Of the total 16,92,709 cases reported since the onset of the pandemic, 16,44,511 have recovered. As many as 115 casualties in the past 24 hours took the state’s total to 20,787.
Prasad asserted that Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted in many districts, but the responsibility to stay cautious remains as the risk of the anticipated third wave still looms large.
