Maharashtra disaster management authority approved proposal of cancellation HSC exam

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra state disaster management authority (SDMA) has approved the proposal submitted by the state education department to cancel class 12 exams. The meeting was chaired by chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday.
Vijay Wadettiwar, minister for relief and rehabilitation, a member of SDMA who attended the meeting, announced that the SDMA has accepted the proposal of the education department recommending cancelling the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams due to Covid pandemic.
Chief minister Thackeray asked the education department to prepare a plan on the assessment methodology to declare the final results in the next two-three days, said an official.
The state is also likely to conduct a Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to degree colleges.
The state has already announced a competitive test for students seeking admission to class 11.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council of Indian Secondary Certificate Education (CISCE) boards on Tuesday cancelled their class 12 exams after a meeting by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. School education minister Varsha Gaikwad said that the priority was to secure the health of students as the third wave was expected to affect children.
