Amritsar, June 2

With a view to provide succor to children aged under 10 years who have been orphaned by Covid, Dr Ashok Uppal, Punjab Medical Council member and former president, IMA-Amritsar, has announced financial relief to the tune of Rs1 lakh.

The initiative is a part of the ‘Mission Rahat’ launched by Uppal Neuro Hospital earlier. Under the initiative, the hospital has been providing free consultation and medicines to the needy Covid patients.

Dr Uppal said people could contact them through Mission Rahat helpline 88729-62555 if they come across a child who has been orphaned by the deadly virus.

“Though it is not possible to fill the void caused in their lives by the pandemic, it is our duty to provide fiscal and social assistance to them in their time of need,” he said.

He also lauded the initiatives taken by the Centre and state government for the wellbeing of such children. “Children are the future of our nation. It is the duty of every responsible citizen to come forward to the aid of the children bereaved on account of Covid, in every possible way that they can,” said Dr Uppal.

In an appeal to the general public, Dr Uppal said people should help families affected by the pandemic, especially children, in any way it is possible for them. “We can take care of each other,” he said.
