BSF recovers over 56 kg contraband, foils trans-border smuggling in Bikaner sector



New Delhi, Jun 3 (UNI) The Border Security Force foiled a cross-border smuggling attempt and seized over 56 kg of contrabands, suspected to be heroin, in Bikaner sector near International Border.

On the intervening night of 2/3 June, the vigilant BSF troopers on the Border Out Post at Bandli, observed some suspicious movement near the border fence and challenged the smugglers and fired upon them. Taking advantage of dark night and bad weather, the smugglers fled.

“After search on the spot, 56 kg 630 grams (54 packets) of contraband item suspected to be heroin were recovered from the incident place. It is biggest ever seizure of narcotics in the area of responsibility of Rajasthan Frontier Apart from this, footprints of smugglers have also been found from the spot. In this regard, an FIR is being lodged with concerned department by the Force”, the spokesperson said here on Thursday.

BSF IG of Rajasthan Frontier Pankaj Goomar appreciated the alertness of the BSF troops.

Earlier, on the intervening night of 7/8th February this year, the BSF had foiled the attempt of smuggling in AOR of Sriganganagar under Rajasthan Frontier. It had also thwarted the infiltration attempts at Indo-Pak international border in AOR of Bikaner and killed the two Pakistani intruders in March.
