Lucknow, Jun 3 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Sidharth Nath Singh on Thursday stated the state has fared better than others like Delhi and Rajasthan in keeping unemployment level low as according to the latest report released by Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) the unemployment rate in UP was 6.9 per cent.
“The milestone has been achieved by the Yogi Government, despite numerous challenges, especially in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It has provided government jobs to 4,00,000 unemployed youths in the last four years. Besides, more than 15 lakh people have been employed in the private sector whereas about 1.5 crore people are self-employed,” Mr Singh, who is also the UP government spokesperson said.
The CMIE report for the month of May reveals that the unemployment rates in Delhi and Rajasthan are an abysmal 45.6 and 27.6 percent respectively against UP’s 6.9 percent. Similarly, the unemployment rates in Haryana is 29.1 pc, Bengal is 19.3 percent, Tamil Nadu 28 pc, PunjWest ab 8.8 pc, Jharkhand 16 pc, Chhattisgarh 8.3 pc, Kerala 23.5 pc and Andhra Pradesh 13.5 pc.
“When Mr Adityanath took over as CM of the state in 2017, the unemployment rate was 17.5 percent, three times more than the current unemployment rate of the state. However, the Government generated a lot of job opportunities for the unemployed youth in the last four years by focusing on increasing industries and businesses and the unemployment rate hit the record low of 4.1 per cent in March, 2021," the spokesman said.
“Under Mission Rozgar, different departments, institutions and corporations of the state is offering employment opportunities to the people,” he said.
“Uttar Pradesh’s revenue in April this year is eight and a half times more than during the corresponding period last year amid lockdown,” Singh said.
“Apart from providing government and private jobs to the youth of the state, the Yogi Government has also encouraged millions of youth to go for self-employment to achieve new heights of success. The number of jobs given during Yogi’s Government is much higher than what was provided under SP and BSP governments together,” he said.
