V Bhoopal Reddy appointed pro tem Chairman of Telangana Legislative Council

Hyderabad, Jun 3 (UNI) Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Thursday appointed V Bhoopal Reddy, the senior most member of the Telangana Legislative Council, as Pro tem Chairman of Telangana Legislative Council.
He would perform the duties of the Chairman of the elders' house with effect from Friday until a member of the said Legislative Council is chosen to be the Chairman under Article 182 of the Constitution of India, according to a notification issued by Secretary to State Legislature Dr V Narasimha Charyulu here.
Generally, pro tem speaker of the assembly is appointed immediately after the general elections to administer oaths to the newly-elected members and till the speaker is appointed.
However, a pro tem or interim Chairman was unavoidable as both Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy and Deputy Chairman Nethi Vidyasagar are retiring today along with four members and the Election Commission of India postponing the elections due to the pandemic.
