Pointing out to the regular inconvenience faced by common Mumbaikars due to the suspension of local trains, Mihir Kotecha – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Mulund has written to chief minister – Uddhav Thackeray, urging him to allow citizens who have taken both the doses of Covid-19 vaccines to travel in local trains.

“Approximately three lakh Mumbaikars have already taken both the doses of Covid-19 vaccines, I request the state government to allow them to commute on trains and also to direct the authorities to issue them monthly passes by checking their vaccination certificate,” said Kotecha in his letter.

Speaking to FPJ, he said that many people living in the suburban belt and satellite cities have to travel to the island city for their occupational needs.

“After unlocking happens and train services continue to remain out of bounds then these people will face sheer inconvenience in travelling,” said Kotecha.

“Last time we saw the plight of Mumbaikars, they had to wait for hours in bus stands and had to travel for 3-4 hours to reach their destination, hope this doesn’t get repeated and the government takes a cue from this experience,” he said.
