As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to upend lives, the Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) stepped in for the protection and well-being of children affected by the crisis unleashed by the coronavirus. While the WCD asked the states and UTs to ensure care to children adversely impacted by COVID-19, following the protocol as mandated under the Juvenile Justice Act, the NHRC issued an advisory calling for greater preparedness by all the stakeholders for the protection of child rights in view of the impending risks of the deadly pathogen.
