Queen Elizabeth II will meet President Biden and first lady Jill Biden at Windsor Castle on June 13, Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday.
Why it matters: Biden will become the 13th sitting U.S. president that the 95-year-old queen has met with, and the first since the death of her husband, Prince Philip, in April.

Queen Elizabeth met her first president, Harry Truman, in 1951, two years before ascending to the throne upon her father's death.
The only sitting president she did not meet with since that time was Lyndon B. Johnson.
The state of play: The meeting comes as Biden is set to attend the G7 summit in Cornwall, England later this month, as part of his first trip overseas. Biden is also scheduled to visit Brussels for a NATO summit and meetings with EU leaders, before his highly anticipated summit in Geneva with Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 16.
