Daily Covid-19 cases fall below 500-mark in Delhi, lowest since March 16

Delhi on Thursday reported 487 new Covid-19 cases and 45 deaths due to the virus. The infection count was the lowest since March 16 when 425 cases were reported.

Delhi reported 487 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, pushing the tally of active cases to 8,748.

While the positivity rate reduced to 0.61 per cent, the infection count on Thursday was the lowest since March 16 when 425 cases were reported. The lowest infection rate which was last reported on April 16 was also at 0.61 per cent.

So far, Delhi has reported 14,27,926 cases of Covid-19 till date.

The city also recorded 45 coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, the lowest since April 10 when the city recorded 39 deaths. The novel coronavirus has claimed 24,447 lives to date.

The case fatality rate (CFR) among patients in the city now stands at 1.71 per cent.

As many as 80,046 samples for coronavirus, using 24,408 Rapid Antigen and 55,638 RT-PCR tests, between Wednesday and Thursday were conducted in Delhi. A total of 1,95,26,590 samples have been tested for Covid-19 to date.

A total of 1058 patients were discharged from hospitals in Delhi after recovering from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

At the same time, the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in Delhi has increased to 97.67 per cent, highest since March 22 when the rate was recorded at 97.7 per cent.

While the percentage of active cases among confirmed cases of infection decreased to 0.61 per cent, a total of 4233 Covid-19 patients are in home isolation across the city. The lowest rate of active Covid patients was reported on March 22 at 0.6 per cent.

As many as 16,287 containment zones have been notified in Delhi in a bid to break the chain of transmission.
