BHOPAL: Public health experts are now stressing that people should learn and follow ëCovid-appropriate behaviourí to stop further spread of the corona pandemic. Citizens who had remained indoors and are expected to throng the markets have been warned by the health experts.

"Thereís need to reinforce the importance of preventive measures and practices in a sustained manner to deal with the disease in the long run," said Dr Sudeep Pathak. People need to bring in some behavioral changes to win the fight against the deadly virus, he added.

Most of people are now aware of wearing masks, social distancing and sanitising their hands regularly, but there is a large number of people who do not follow it properly, thereby rendering the efforts useless. Most of the people should volunteer and adopt the ëRoko Toko Abhiyaní of the state government, where one reminds people politely where they are going wrong.

What is Covid-appropriate behaviour?

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

1. Donít go to the market without important work. It is better to go at a time when crowds are expected to be thinner. Considering that it is now summer, the best time to go to the market is noon

2. Maintaining social distancing norms in the market is a most difficult task. Become a volunteer and remind people if they come close to you or wear masks improperly

3. Donít forget to carry a sanitiser along with you. Make it a habit. If you forget to carry a sanitiser, buy a new one. It will not be wastedóyou can use it later, or gift it to someone who needs it

3. Greet people with a smile and not with physical contact

4. Do not forget to wash the mask regularly if it is reusable or to dispose of it in the recommended manner. Clean your hands after removing your mask

5. Make washing hands a habit and keep doing it frequently. Avoid touching surfaces at unknown places as in market or offices

6. Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces as infected droplets are likely to settle on these surfaces

7. Show compassion and support to persons afflicted with Covid and their families

8. Discourage crowds and gatherings. Connect virtually

9. Rely only on credible knowledge

10. Do not ignore or suppress any feeling of anxiety or distress
