Chandigarh, June 1 (UNI) The State Vigilance Bureau(SVB), Haryana has caught the Chief Sanitary Inspector (CSI), Municipal Corporation, Panipat, Sudhir Kumar red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 13.70 lakhs.
Kumar was arrested in front of the office of Fire Brigade, Panipat while accepting the bribe from Chankit Daral, Administrative Officer, IND Sanitation and Solutions Company.
The spokesperson of the Bureau said on Tuesday that IND Sanitation and Solutions Company had been awarded tender for road sanitization in Panipat, Rohtak, Bahadurgarh, Sonepat and Panchkula and Sudhir Kumar, CSI talked to Krishan Kumar, Director of the Company on his mobile phone and demanded a bribe of Rs 13.70 lakhs in lieu of passing their outstanding bills and further extending the tender, which was recorded by the latter.
The complainant i.e. Chankit Daral was asked by Krishan Kumar to submit a complaint to the State Vigilance Bureau(SVB) along with pen drive of call recording said the spokesperson.
He said that after receiving the information, a case was registered in Police Station, SVB, Karnal. A team headed by Narsingh, DSP, SVB, Rohtak was constituted. Krishan Kumar, Principal, ITI, Panipat and Smt Archana, Helper, ITI, Panipat were appointed as
Duty Magistrate and Shadow witness respectively.
The team of SVB apprehended the said Chief Sanitary Inspector red-handed in the presence of Duty Magistrate and shadow witness while accepting bribe of Rs. 13,70,000. The accused is
being interrogated thoroughly and will be produced before the Court today. The investigation of the case is in progress.
