The harvesting process of the mouth-watering strawberry crop is in full swing in Srinagar. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the strawberry growers are following social distancing at the field. The Harvesting process is at the peak these days but growers are facing several problems due to COVID-induced lockdown. One of the growers said, ‘The crop is good this year but we are facing some issues regarding its marketing, owing to COVID-induced lockdown as markets and shops are closed. Still, we are thankful to the president of ‘mandi’ as our strawberries are reaching the market. We are following SOPs here and also maintaining social distancing. So, we are hoping that we will earn decent this year.’ However, the Department of Horticulture is trying to felicitate them and one of their officials said, ‘Our department keeps guiding the growers along with following all SOPs so that after harvesting their crop reaches to markets.’ Strawberry is perishable fruit and is considered as first fruit crop of the season in Kashmir.
