He will be remembered for the father figure roles he played on TV. With all his characters, he was always ready to dish out words of wisdom, full of stories and always knew what to say.

South Africans are mourning the death of veteran actor Macdonald Mathunjwa. He had a TV career spanning decades and was also a music composer.

The veteran actor was popularly known for his role as Tatu Ngcobo on SABC 1 drama, Home Affairs. His daughter took social media to share the news of his passing.

Speaking to Tshisalive Zanoxolo Mthunjwa revealed that her father died of Covid-19 related complications.

“RIP daddy, MacDonald Ndodana Mathunjwa passed away today,” she tweeted.

Fans and supporters were shocked and shared their deepest condolences to the Mathunjwa family.

They included the Gauteng MEC for sports, arts, culture and recreation Mbali Hlophe. 

"uBab Mathunjwa has been an epitome of acting excellence and was very authentic in the roles he played, whether it was on television or theatre," she said.
