The driver of a motorcycle was hospitalized after a crash off Interstate 69 west of 32nd Street Monday night in Port Huron Township.

Deputies were called to the eastbound business loop of the interstate about 10 p.m. after a 36-year-old man from Clyde Township collided with a pickup truck.

According to a news release, the driver of the 2008 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and unable to stop before striking the rear end of a 2011 Dodge Ram pickup, which was driven by a 48-year-old woman from Port Huron.

The motorcyclist was thrown about 100 yards. He was transported by Tri-Hospital EMS to Lake Huron Medical Center with significant injuries and later to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.

It was not clear what the 36-year-old man's condition was Tuesday morning.

The crash remains under investigation.

Port Huron Township Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene on Monday.
