The COVID-19 pandemic has left retailers in the UK with £2.9 billion in accumulated rent debts, and two-thirds of retailers are likely to face legal action once the moratorium ends in July, according to a new survey of retailers by the British Retail Consortium (BRC). Without action, the end of the moratorium could see thousands of shops close, BRC said.
