With the Tarai-based Janata Samajbadi Party divided on the difficulty of becoming a member of the Ok P Oli-led cabinet or staying within the opposition, rival factions on Tuesday resorted to expelling and counter-expelling members, making its break up inevitable.
The faction led by Upendra Yadav and Baburam Bhattarai, which is against becoming a member of the Oli authorities, expelled 4 leaders of the rival group — Mahanth Thakur, Rajendra Mahato, Lakshman Lal Karn and Sarvendranath Shukla — from the get together. Soon after, the Thakur faction expelled Yadav.
The Mahanth Thakur faction is presently negotiating with Oli to hitch the cabinet, though Oli’s premiership is being challenged within the Supreme Court.
The get together has 32 members – the Thakur faction controls the vast majority of parliamentarians, whereas the Bhattarai faction has clear maintain over the organisation.
