Musician Jose Chameleone has begged government to set the entertainment industry free despite the surging cases of Covid-19.
Being that President Yoweri Museveni is expected to address the nation this week about Covid-19 measures in Uganda, Chameleone has begged him to give a positive consideration to the entertainment industry this time round.
While addressing the press on Tuesday, Chameleone said that they are not trying to be rebellious, but they want the government to remember that their business has been shut down for a longtime.
“When the government thinks that we’re talking because we’re broke, they are not going to listen to us, but we need our freedom too, the same freedom they gave taxi drivers, the saloons, churches among other places. We can also operate under SOPs,” Chameleone said.
“shutting down our business is like setting us up to become criminals because it has already been one year, guys it’s one year and we are spending daily… what do they expect from us?”
It should be noted that, bars, clubs, concerts among other happening places which happen to be the main source of income for musicians, are still under a lockdown since March last year.
