Mumbai News LIVE: City reports lowest corona cases since February 23

Mumbai on Monday (May 31) reported 676 COVID-19 cases, the lowest since February 23 this year. The case doubling time was now 433 days, and there are 35 containment zones and 158 sealed buildings. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 29 people succumbed to the COVID-19 infection, taking the total COVID-related death toll to 14,884. And 5,570 people were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 6,66,796. The recovery rate of Mumbai district stands at 94 per cent. The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the city has increased to 7,06,251. Maharashtra on Monday reported 15,077 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest since March 15, taking the caseload to 57,46,892, while 184 more deaths pushed the toll to 95,344. In a significant development, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday kicked off the trial runs for the city's 2A Yellow Line and 7 Red Line and other projects. At 15,077, Maharashtra logs lowest COVID-19 cases since mid-March

Maharashtra on Monday reported 15,077 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest since March 15, taking the caseload to 57,46,892, while 184 more deaths pushed the toll to 95,344, the state health department said. On March 15, the state had reported 15,051 cases as it hurtled towards a devastating second COVID-19 wave. The daily count was also a sharp drop from 18,600 infections registered on Sunday. As many as 33,000 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, pushing the number of recovered cases to 53,95,370. The state now has 2,53,367 active cases, it said.
