    Crude oil futures rise on spot demand

    Synopsis

    On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for the June delivery traded higher by Rs 96, or 1.97 per cent, at Rs 4,966 per barrel in 10,535 lots.

    Analysts said raising of bets by participants kept crude oil prices higher in the futures trade.

    NEW DELHI: Crude oil prices rose Rs 96 to Rs 4,966 per barrel on Tuesday as participants widened their positions on a firm spot demand.

    On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for the June delivery traded higher by Rs 96, or 1.97 per cent, at Rs 4,966 per barrel in 10,535 lots.

    Analysts said raising of bets by participants kept crude oil prices higher in the futures trade.

    Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude oil gained 2.70 per cent to USD 68.11 per barrel, while Brent crude traded 1.96 per cent higher at USD 70.68 per barrel in New York.
