MTN Group considers Ethiopian market again

Tuesday 1 June 2021 | 09:47 CET | News
MTN Group says its considering having another go at becoming a mobile operator in Ethiopia, after losing to Kenya's Safaricom-led consortium, reports Business Report, citing MTN CEO Ralph Mupita during the company's 26th annual general meeting (AGM). Mupita said the Ethiopian authorities are expected to reissue the licence with mobile money, and "if they do that and do it and in a relatively short period of time, we will apply our minds on the issue, we have not made a firm decision on that."
