Singer and music composer Vishal Dadlani, who has been the Indian Idol judge for over three seasons, will not be returning to the show just yet.
Reportedly, the singer has said that he is not coming back till the state unlocks.
The judges of the ongoing season are Himesh Reshammiya, Vishal and Neha Kakkar. However, they did not travel with the team when they moved to Daman for shoot amid the second wave of COVID-19.
While Neha and Himesh have resumed shoot, a report in ETimes stated that Vishal has said that he will not return till the quasi lockdown is done with.
The show's host Aditya Narayan had earlier said that Vishal shifted to Lonavala last year with his parents. Aditya had told ETimes that Vishal didn’t want to drive all the way from Lonavala to Daman and come back to potentially infect his parents as he is being extra careful because of his parents.
Singer and music composer Anu Malik has now filled in for Vishal. Reportedly, the team of Indian Idol 12 has shot enough content for one month and returned to Mumbai.
Meanwhile, the ongoing season and its contestants are constantly being criticized on social media for various reasons. It all started after the makers paid tribute to late legendary actor-singer, Kishore Kumar, in one of the episodes in which his son Amit Kumar appeared as a special guest.
The contestants and judges were lambasted by the audience for 'ruining' Kishore Kumar's iconic songs. However, Amit Kumar had reportedly said that he was asked by the makers of the show to praise all the contestants.
Recently, singer Sunidhi Chauhan, who judged the fifth and sixth season of the show, also said that she was asked by the makers to praise all the contestants and that is the reason why she had decided to quit the show.
