Khammam: Locks introduced in the state have the distribution of Covid-19 and collective efforts were needed to arrest the rise Covid positive cases in the district, suggested the Secretary General of the Department of Health, Syed Ali Murtuza Rizvi.
He wanted the Department of Health and other relevant departments to make joint efforts to strictly enforce lock-in in the towns to ensure that the rate of Covid positive cases fall below five percent on June 9th.
Rizvi, along with Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, G Srinivasa Rao and District Collector, RV Karnan, visited Madhira and Sathupalli in the Khammam District and held meetings to review Covid situation.
The meeting was held in view of the high number Covid positive cases in Madhira and Sathupalli mandals located at AP-Telangana borders. Officials reviewed measures taken at town level Covid distribution.
The general secretary said during the meetings that the decision of the prime minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to lock up and impose a door-to-door fever recording is yielding good results, but there should be a focus on border villages where Covid positive cases were high.
Medical officers at PHCs need to set their targets and work with ANMs, Asha workers, gram panchayat staff, secretary and sarpanch to address the issue. Those with Covid symptoms should be tested and medical kits given while positive patients are moved to isolation centers, Rizvi suggested.
Steps must be taken to see the public wear face masks and maintain social distance at the procurement centers and agricultural fields. Serious measures are needed to prevent loss of life, he added.
Srinivasa Rao, director of public health, said the department was working hard to prevent this Covid spread while saying that villages became defenseless in the second wave. He inquired about the reasons for the large number of positive cases in Singareni mandal where there were 786 active cases.
Collector Karnan said decentralized isolation centers had been set up in towns where there were more than ten Covid positive cases. Covid Departments with oxygen beds were set up in the district hospital and CHCs in the district.
