Maratha community to get benefit of reservation

Mumbai, Jun 1 (UNI) Maharashtra Minister for Minorities Nawab Malik on Tuesday informed that an order has been issued by the MVA state government to benefit the Maratha community in Economical Weaker Section (EWS).



In his official press statement, Mr Malik stated that those community does not get the benefit of reservation in any class will get the benefit in EWS.

Mr Malik also said that those whose income is less than Rs 8 lakh p.a. will benefit from this decision.



The reservation given to the Maratha community has been cancelled by the Supreme Court and now the case under judicial.

Therefore, the poor Maratha class will now be able to take advantage of this decision taken by the state government.

The state government has issued this order for this which will bring some relief to the Maratha community.

Across the country, only 10 per cent reservation has been given to the EWS.

Those castes who do not get the benefit of reservation can avail the benefit of EWS.



Mr Malik clarified that the state government has issued the order as it will benefit the poor Maratha people till a decision is taken on Maratha reservation.

It may noted that the government order (GO) to this effect was issued by the General Administration Department (GAD).
