Minecraft's Caves and Cliffs: Part 1 update arrives next week

Scale up.

The first half of Minecraft's big Caves and Cliffs update arrives next Tuesday, 8th June.

That's for both Bedrock and Java editions of the game, Microsoft said, meaning (deep breath) PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, Mac and Linux.

This is the first portion of the long-awaited and recently split Caves and Cliffs update, which includes various creatures and some new blocks.

Keep an eye out for the mountain goat, which can headbutt you off of those aforementioned cliffs. Also included is the aquatic axolotl, which will hunt other underwater creatures for you. There's also a glow squid, a refugee from the now-canned Pokémon Go-like Minecraft Earth.

New blocks include amethyst, which can be used to craft the new spyglass item, and copper, which will age its appearance over time - just like me.

As previously announced, the second half of Minecraft's Caves and Cliffs update will now arrive "around the holiday season" to ensure the development team have time to deal with various unexpected issues without compromising team health. The update's originally-detailed archaeology system has been delayed even further - don't expect to dust that off this year.
