Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday approved the notification to fix the cost of COVID-19 treatment in private hospitals in order to provide relief to the general public. Accordingly, the rates have been fixed by classifying the cities into Class A, B and C.
Class A cities include Mumbai and metropolitan areas (excluding Bhiwandi, Vasai-Virar), Pune and Pune metropolitan areas, Nagpur (Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Digdoh, Wadi). Class B cities include Nashik, Aurangabad, Amravati, Bhiwandi, Solapur, Kolhapur, Vasai-Virar, Malegaon, Nanded, Sangli. Class C covers all district headquarters and all other cities not included in Class A and B.
General isolation ward (per day): Rs 4,000 for Class A cities, Rs 3,000 for Class B cities and Rs 2,400 for Class C cities. This includes the necessary maintenance, nursing, tests, medication, cost of bed and meals. The cost of the Covid test has to be paid at the fixed rate. Only major tests and investigations, as well as high-level drugs, are excluded.
ICU with ventilator and isolation: Rs 9,000 for Class A cities, Rs 6,700 for Class B cities and Rs 5,400 for Class C cities.
ICU and isolation only: Rs 7500 for Class A cities, Rs 5500 for Class B cities and Rs 4500 for Class C cities.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also directed that instructions should be given to all the concerned District Collectors and Municipal Commissioners for strict and effective implementation of the above notification.
