Rising black fungus cases in India, Rahul Gandhi shoots 3 questions to Centre

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Central government, asking them about the plans to deal with rising cases of black fungus in the country.

Gandhi has asked three questions from the BJP led government what are the steps they are taking to address the shortage of drugs that are important to treat patients suffering from black fungus.

What are the questions of Rahul Gandhi?

Gandhi said the Central Government should clarify the Black fungus epidemic, he has sought answers from the Modi government to three of his questions.

  1. Gandhi has asked the BJP led government, what is being done for the Amphotericin B drug shortage which is important to treat patients suffering from black fungus?
  2. Gandhi has asked, what is the procedure for getting this medicine to the patient?
  3. In the last question Congress leader asked the Centre instead of giving treatment to the patients, why is the public getting hassled by formalities by the government?

Earlier, Gandhi has criticised the BJP government and blamed the Modi government for the epidemic of black fungus along with the Covid pandemic due to the lack of medical infrastructure in the country.

Karnataka has faced 1,250 cases of a black fungus with 39 related deaths so far. In Madhya Pradesh’s Indore city, 39 people have succumbed to the infection. Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut reported 147 black fungus cases so far.

Many states, including, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand and Bihar have seen rising cases of black fungus, the states have declared black fungus as an epidemic disease.

To control the black fungus infection, many states are facing a shortage of drugs like Liposomal Amphotericin-B and Posaconazole, a drug which commonly used to treat infected patients.

The black fungus infections are seen mostly in Covid-19 patients across the country.
