Goa’s Covid-19 positivity drops to 20 pieces in one month

Panaji: The COVID-19 According to the state government, the positivity in Goa has now decreased to 19 percent compared to 51 percent a month back.

However, the Goa government has not given up and is making every effort to curb the spread of the virus by dr. Shivanand Bandekar, head of the state’s expert committee on vaccination. COVID-19, told PTI on Monday.

He also said that the coastal state had reported a total of 12 cases of mucormicosis until last week, and since then there has been no new case of the black fungal infection.

According to data from the Goa Health Department, the state reported 20 percent COVID-19 positivity rate on Monday compared to 51 percent on April 30th.

‘According to experts, the chance that the third wave is 90 percent COVID-19 can hit the state within about a month and a half (mid-July), ”Bandekar said.

But the state government is cautious and is making every effort to stop the spread of the virus, said Bandekar, who is also the dean of the state-run Goa Medical College and Hospital.

He said experts predicted the third wave could affect those under the age of 18 and also affect the state’s rural pockets.

‘Until now, adults have been infected in urban areas.

There is to some extent a herd immunity among them, ” he said, adding that the virus would now try to find a ‘new host’.

The official also said vaccination is the best way to check the spread of the infection.

‘Even if you become infected after vaccination, the severity of the disease is low. Very few people who took both doses of vaccine died. “Those who died after taking both doses were because they had a lot of co-morbidity,” Bandekar said.

He said during the second wave of COVID-19, people died as a result of co-morbidity or the severity of the viral infection.

‘Some younger patients have died due to the severity of the disease. The vaccines will definitely protect us against all mutants, ”said Bandekar.
