The Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti has been officially confirmed after months of rumours, becoming the second most powerful desktop graphics card in Nvidia’s GeForce line-up.

The new graphics card features Ampere technology, which means it supports the likes of DLSS and ray tracing

Nvidia claims it is 2x faster than the GTX 1080 Ti for traditional rasterization, while also seeing a substantial boost to the efficiency of ray tracing.

The new GPU features a whopping 10,240 CUDA Cores, a boost clock speed of 1.67GHz and 12GB GDDR6X memory.

Read on for more details on Nvidia’s latest desktop graphics card.

The Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti will launch on 3 June 2021.

The graphics card had been expected to launch earlier in the year, but seemingly suffered numerous delays.

The Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti will cost £1049 / $1199 at launch.

Such a figure sits the GPU between the $699 RTX 3080 and the $1499 RTX 3090, making it one of the most expensive desktop GPUs on the market.

Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti

The RTX 3080 Ti’s specs have been confirmed, and they look very impressive, with a CUDA Core count closer to the RTX 3090 than the RTX 3080.

It also has an identical memory bus and TDP to the RTX 3090, only falling behind substantially on the memory with just 12GB of GDDR6X on offer. That’s nothing to be sniffed at, but the RTX 3090 boasts 2x more more memory.

Still, this all suggests the RTX 3080 Ti is more a weakened version of the RTX 3090 rather than an upgraded RTX 3080, which its name suggests.

But is this the best graphics card you can buy for the money? Unfortunately, you can’t get a complete picture of the performance by simply looking at the specs. Instead, keep an eye on our upcoming review as we put the graphics card through its paces to see what kind of power it’s capable of.
