Ward boy arrested for murder of his paramour in Navi Mumbai

Thane, May 31 (UNI) The Panvel city police on Monday arrested a 35-year-old ward boy from a hospital in Panvel of Navi
Mumbai on the charge of allegedly murdering his paramour and destroying evidence.
On May 29, the body of an unidentified woman, aged around 35-40, was found at village Koli Kopar in the limits of the new airport.
The Panvel police had then registered a case of accidental death under section 174 of Indian Penal Code, police said in an official release here

During the investigation into the death of the woman, a villager from Nanoshi village of Panvel identified that the body was of his sister.
On Sunday, an autorickshaw driver from Turmale found a bag containing the Aadhar Card, Pan card, purse, and clothes of the deceased woman.
Again, that villager was called and identified them as that of his sister.
He informed the police that a ward boy from a hospital, Chandrakant Gaikar, had relations with his sister and both had some days back had a heated argument over telephone.
Based on this clue, police detained the ward boy who confessed to the crime and informed the police that the victim and the accused were in love with each other for the last six months.
However, she had some serious illness and was insisting on getting married to him.
Being fed up of this, he hatched a conspiracy to liquidate her and accordingly took her to the village promising to cure her of the illness and gave her certain injections along with a poisonous injection and killed her.
He also disposed off her bag containing her belongings at a distance.
An offence under sections 302, 328, 201 of Indian Penal Code has been registered against accused Chandrakant Vitthal Gaikar (35, of Turmale).
He was produced before a local magistrate, who remanded him into police custody till June 5, the release added.

Police refused to reveal the name and age of the victim due to specific reasons.
