India on Monday has witnessed 1.52 lakh fresh coronavirus cases with over 3,100 covid related deaths, which is the lowest single-day spike in the last 50 days. The country’s total covid caseload reaches more than 2.8 crore.
The Covid situation in India is getting better across all states/Union territories except a few in the northeast and in Ladakh. The Covid positivity rate also falling for the third week running. States like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Odisha, also seeing a dip in cases.
Health Ministry on Monday said, India has reported 3,128 new covid related deaths. India’s death toll now stands at 3,29,100, as per the health ministry data. On Sunday, nationwide fatalities dipped by 17 percent, the first decline in 12 weeks.
India recorded 24,372 fatalities on May 24-30, a drop of almost 5,000 from the previous week’s toll of 29,331. These included previous deaths added to the toll in Maharashtra and Uttarakhand during this period.
Many states taking strict steps to control the covid situation, the Bihar government on Monday has extended the ongoing Covid-19 lockdown across the state for another week, till June 8 to break the covid infection chain in the state. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar asked people to wear masks and follow all the Covid related protocols, He said maintaining social distancing and following covid guidelines is the only solution to control the spread of virus in the state.
According to the official data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday, India has vaccinated over 10 lakh people against Covid-19.
Seeing the shortage of vaccines in the country, Serum Institute of India (SII) on Sunday said it supply almost 10 crore doses of Covishield in June.
