Maharashtra reported 18,600 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, its lowest one-day count since mid-March this year, which took the tally to 57,31,815. There are 2,71,801 active cases in the state. Mumbai recorded 1,066 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the caseload to 7,05,575. The metropolis also witnessed a dip in COVID-19 deaths, after 22 patients succumbed to the virus. Meanwhile, extending the lockdown-like restrictions in the state for another 15 days, CM Uddhav Thackeray said that it pains him to impose curbs on his people.
