VADODARA: Pending fees or non-payment of fees will not hamper academic progression of MS University students.
After an unexpected controversy hit the university, MSU vice-chancellor professor Parimal Vyas clarified that academic progression of no student will be stopped because of non-payment of fees.
Last week, a controversy had surfaced at the campus after a message spread that student of garment technology course at Faculty of Family and Community Sciences were being pressurised on payment of fees. It is said that students were threatened that they will not be allowed to appear in their exams nor there will be any academic progress if they fail to pay fees.
On Saturday, a question on whether students of first year of Faculty of Commerce who have not paid fees will be allowed to appear in their internal exams surfaced. Nearly 1,200 students of the faculty have not paid their fees even as their internal exams are set to begin.
“Non-payment of fees will not come in way of academic progression,” Vyas said on Sunday. He said that this stand of the university which has been approved by the syndicate body last year applies to students of all the faculties including commerce.
“In fact, we have even asked students that if they are not able to pay fees in lumpsum, we will make arrangements so that they can pay fees in instalments,” he said.
