Noida: Work on
Chilla elevated road, which will connect
Mayur Vihar in Delhi to
Mahamaya flyover in Noida, is expected to get delayed by six months — from its December 2021 deadline to mid-2022. Officials said that the state government has not released funds to the tune of Rs 302 crore despite several letters from the
Noida Authority.
The work on the Rs 605 crore project, which is being built on a fifty-fifty partnership between the Noida Authority (through UP Bridge Corporation Ltd) and the state government, is already delayed due to the pandemic where only 36% of pile work and 3% of pile cap completed.
“The authority has spent around Rs 74 crore so far. While the state government has been getting updates from the Noida Authority, it has not released the funds” said Rahul Sharma, senior manager (work circle 2), Noida Authority.
While the foundation stone laying ceremony for the 5.5-km-long stretch over Shahdara drain was done by chief minister Yogi Adityanath on January 25, 2019, work during the year took time due to change in alignments and for getting permissions from the Delhi government and other departments.
In 2020, the pandemic added to the delay. Sharma added, “If the government releases the funds by end of this year, then we may look at a six-month delay and expect the project to be ready by mid-2022.”
He added that only 582 piles have been completed as against a total of 1,610.
As per the project’s original timeline, the first phase of the elevated road from Sector 18 to Mahamaya flyover was expected to be completed by September 2021 and the entire road was expected to be ready by December 2021.
