Reyaansh Vir Chadha is currently essaying the role of Akshay in Dangal TV’s show Prem Bandhan. The model-turned-actor with theatre background talks to us about his journey in tinsel town

What made you join Prem Bandhan?

I have worked with Balaji Telefilms before in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and it was a great experience. With Balaji, you are assured of the quality of content and production which is quite satisfying for an actor. So, the production house was one of the main reasons for me to agree to do this show. Other than that, the unique storyline also attracted me towards it.

How is it sharing screen space with Chhavi Pandey and Manit Joura?

Till now, most of my scenes have been with Chhavi and there was no challenge as such. She is a fantastic co-actor and we shared a very good connection which made it very easy for us to pull the scenes together.

From modelling to television, how this move happened?

Frankly, I had no intention of becoming an actor. I joined theatre as an additional activity and to explore myself. That’s where I gained confidence and I realised that it was something I wanted to do all my life. When I was modelling, I was a part of many TV commercials and the journey from there to TV shows has been great. I now look forward to work in OTT and films.

Would you like to go back to theatre?

I would love to go back to the stage but it requires a lot of time. I think for any actor, it is difficult to dedicate time to theatre as well as manage a show or a movie.

What is the one principle you abide by?

I would like to continue doing good quality work. I do not plan anything because after the multiple experiences I have had, I don’t think that planning works. I just take one day at a time and I enjoy the surprises that life throws at me.

How has the year 2020 been for you?

The year 2020 was difficult for our industry and it was challenging for us even personally. A couple of my shows were also scrapped. But I am grateful that I managed to survive and also for the fact that I get to work now.

What are your interests other than acting?

I am a fitness freak, so I keep reading stuff related to fitness and nutrition. I do different forms of training, calisthenics, boxing and also swimming. I love playing cricket, as I have played for Delhi when I was in school.

What are your future plans?

I don’t believe in planning and I don’t have any plan as such. I am just giving my 100 per cent to whatever I am doing.

What advice would you give to people to stay safe?

As we can see vaccination drives are picking up and the infection rate is going down, so just take precautions and do not give up till we all get vaccinated. We will win this situation and come out of it soon.
