A shocking video has surfaced on social media wherein the dead body of a Covid patient is being thrown in a river in Uttar Pradesh's Balrampur district. This video comes in after thousands of dead bodies being dumped in the Ganga got national and international attention. The fresh incident took place in the Balrampur district on May 28.

The video was shot by a couple of people who were driving by the spot in the Balrampur district. In the video, two men, one of them in a PPE suit and other in regular clothes, can be seen lifting a body near a bridge over river Rapti while it is heavily raining.

Soon after the video went viral, the confirmed that the body was of a Covid patient and the relatives were trying to dump it in the river. The officer informed that the patient was identified as Prem Nath Mishra who was admitted to hospital on May 25 and died on May 28.

According to the media reports, a case has been registered against the kin of the deceased and the body has been handed back to them.

Earlier this month, hundreds of bodies had washed up on the banks of river Ganga in parts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The visuals sent shock waves across the country highlighting the gravity of the Covid-19 second wave.
