Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Approval to nearly Rs 350 crore budget of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) for fiscal 2021-22 is on halt for past three months, thanks to second wave of Covid-19.

The university is going to hold meeting of executive council in mid-June for its nod to the budget.

Executive council meeting for budget for financial year 2021-22 was held in February. Finance controller Dilip Verma had presented the budget in the EC meeting seeking nod but the EC members denied approving the budget immediately.

They had sought time to go through provisions in the budget. It was decided that the meeting for the budget would be held against within 14 days but the meeting could not be organized due to increase in Covid-19 cases.

The second wave of Covid-19 led to a complete lockdown from April 9. Now, as the unlocking is to take place from June 1, the university is thinking of holding EC meeting for approval to the budget.

Registrar Anil Sharma stated that the university administration may convene EC meeting in mid-June for approval to the budget.

Decision on CET also likely

In the same EC meeting, decision on common entrance test (CET) may also be taken. CET is conducted by DAVV for admission in professional courses offered by university teaching departments. For past two years, admissions were granted on the basis of students qualifying exams marks but this year DAVV is thinking of organizing CET again as Class 12th exams has not been conducted as yet. Admission in UG courses could not be granted on merit basis so DAVV has no other option but to go for CET again.
