Hoshiarpur: Calling upon the youth to disseminate the message of Covid-apt behaviour, importance of vaccination and early testing on the first symptom of Covid in their villages, Industry and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Thursday said the administration would form a group of seven rural corona volunteers in every village to curb the spread on the directions of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh. Speaking to media persons after participating in the virtual launch of ‘Mission Fateh 2’ by the Chief Minister, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait, the minister said the indomitable spirit of the youth can help to wipe out the infectious disease completely by turning the awareness drive into a mass movement in the village. He said these volunteers would work on the golden principle of triple ‘Ts’ formula testing, tracing and treating in the villages besides sensitising the rural folks, paying special attention towards poor and elderly, ease access to Covid control room and helplines, holding thikri pehras and others. He said every volunteer would be honoured with a sports kit and appreciation certificate on August 12 on the eve of International Youth Day. On black fungus cases, he said the district had witnessed only two cases so far and with proper awareness and following guidelines, we can save ourselves from this disease. He appealed to the people to avoid taking unnecessary steroid and contact doctors immediately in case of symptoms. On the occasion, he also released stickers and badges made by the Department of Sports and Youth Services in the district. He said these badges and stickers would be given to the beneficiaries of vaccination to motivate others for taking a jab. Former MLA Love Kumar Goldy also attended the event. OC
