The Pinjore police have arrested three members of a family, including a woman, for defrauding a bank by taking a gold loan of Rs1.58 lakh by giving fake yellow metal.
The accused have been identified as Seema Bansal, her husband Purshotam Bansal and Vishal Bansal, residents of Sukhomajri village in Pinjore.
On May 20, the police had arrested Manjit Kaur (40), a resident of Pinjore, in this case. During investigation, Manjit revealed the names of the trio. She was later sent to judicial custody.
In his complaint to the police, Saurabh Jain, branch manager of Federal Bank, Kalka, stated that the woman applied for a gold loan on May 21. They got suspicious about the gold and asked the valuer of M/s Sai Jewellers, Kalka, to visit the bank to check it. He said the valuer found the ornaments, including a bangle and two chains, fake.
Jain said the woman had also taken a loan of Rs1.58 lakh on March 27, 2021, by depositing two gold bangles, weighing 53.3 grams, which were also found to be fake.
During investigation, the woman told the police that the fake gold belonged to Seema Bansal, her husband and son Vishal, who had asked her to take the loan from the bank by depositing it.
A case under Sections 420, 468, 511 and 120-B of the IPC has been registered against Manjit Kaur and other three accused. —TNS
