Sonakshi Sinha knows that a lot of hard work and a positive attitude are necessary to get fit, and then stay fit. The actor has been transparent about her body transformation and her wellness journey, and her Instagram feed can serve as inspiration to anyone looking for it. “When you see a positive change in yourself, physically and mentally, that just keeps you going," she told Vogue India. Ahead, read on for some tips from the celebrity:

1) Get your cardio done in the morning

Sinha has been pencilling two-a-day sessions for herself, and she starts her day by getting in a cardio workout. “I start most of my mornings with cardio on an empty stomach. My cardio routine is the Stairmaster for 30 minutes and brisk walking for about 20-25 minutes after," she confirmed. The theory behind fasted cardio is that your body feeds on stored fat and carbohydrates for energy instead of food you've recently eaten, leading to higher levels of fat loss.

2) Add skipping to your routine

Skipping can serve as a high-intensity exercise, and just a few minutes of it can amp up your heart rate and accelerate fat loss and calorie burn. It is useful to tone the calf, thigh, arm and shoulder muscles, while also improving balance, coordination and agility in the process. “Best cardio BURN,” shared Sinha about this form of workout.

3) Look to Pilates to lengthen and strengthen

It might feel low-impact and low-intensity, but pilates promotes strength, balanced muscle development, flexibility, and results in an increased range of motion for the joints. “I started doing Pilates about six months back and it's really suited me. There are thousands of exercises that you can do on those machines so it's never boring; you can do something new every day," she said back in 2018. The actor is still obsessed with the workout, getting in a session on the reformer every chance she gets. “I love working out on the Pilates reformer. There are so many variations of exercises you can do on that," she confirmed.

4) Be your own competitor

Sinha knows that comparing yourself to people on Instagram can leave you feeling less-than, especially if you're trying to meet their goals instead of your own. “I feel like following people on social media for fitness can be disheartening sometimes, because you always end up comparing yourself to these athletes and builders. Everyone has their own fitness journey and ways, I think it's best to stick to your own," she confirmed.

5) Keep motivating yourself

Progress is not linear, and Sinha knows that fitness is not a one-and-done deal. Take her approach to doing a headstand, which she knows would take a while to nail, but made the effort to take it step by step. “It's taken me months and months to even get my feet off the floor and to finally be able to do this without any support feels like I've conquered the world!!! Still a work in progress, still need to get straighter and I know I will soon enough,” she shared. #BeYourOwnMotivation, she confirmed.
