Thane, May 29 (UNI) The district court here on Saturday convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment a 32-year-old man from Bhiwandi town for brutally killing his younger brother in October 2017.
Additional public prosecutor Vivek Kadu told the court that the accused lived with his parents and younger brother Akash Mane (19) at Devji Nagar of Narpoli in Bhiwandi, who did not do any job and was an alcoholic.
Due to his habit, he not only created nuisance in the house but also abused his parents and the accused, who were daily wage earners.
As a result, there were frequent quarrels between the family members and the victim.
On ill-fated day of October 12, 2017, Akash demanded Rs 500 from his mother for buying alcoholic beverage and when she refused to oblige, he left the house in a fit of anger only to return after sometime and asked for Rs 2,000 from the accused.
As a result of the ongoing feud, the accused that night beat up his younger brother with a stick and killed him, the court was told.
After examining total 12 witnesses, Principal District and Sessions Judge R M Joshi found accused Sunil Mane guilty of the crime punishable under section 302 of Indian Penal Code and awarded the sentence.
The court also slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 on the accused.
