Following the chief minister's orders, police are imposing strict punishment, resulting in a drop in Covid-19 instances, according to top police officers. The latest lockdown began on May 12 and has been extended for another 10 days. The death toll has now dropped to 4 per cent, down from 8.6 per cent on May 1 to 5.56 per cent two weeks ago. The number of child porn cases has fallen to 4,000.

Relaxation is also granted to agriculture and related industries, as well as big building projects. The Centre has told the states that they had till june 30 to keep Covid-19 containment measures in place. As the new agricultural season begins in the first week of june, the state intends to lift restrictions on agriculture-related activity.
