Moradabad: A 15-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by a teenager in a village in the Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh.
Police said the girl, a class 8 student, was leaving her home early in the morning when the accused dragged her into his shop and raped her.
The girl’s older brother said in his complaint that when the family found out she was missing, they started looking for her and heard her screaming from a shop that was closed from the inside.
When they repeatedly knocked on the door, the accused fled the scene and found the girl lying half-consciously in the store.
The girl told her family that she had been raped.
An FIR is registered under section 376 (Rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and applicable sections of the Scheduled Customs and Tribes Act (Prevention of Cruelty) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO).
The girl was sent for medical examination and the police recorded her statement.
The accused left and several teams were deployed to arrest him.
Circular officer Desh Deepak Singh, who is investigating the case, said: ‘The girl is a minor and is studying at a school, while the accused is about 25 years old and runs a furniture store. I explored the place in the presence of the girl’s family. We gathered evidence from the town and several teams were deployed to arrest the accused. ”
The incident has meanwhile acquired a common color as the accused belongs to a different community.
Additional forces were deployed in the area to prevent the incident.
