DIBRUGARH, May 30: Under a mysterious circumstance, the body of a Covid positive patient was recovered from the AMCH footpath in the Jalan Nagar area of Dibrugarh on Saturday.
Police recovered the body of a 54-year-old man from the footpath of Jalan Nagar area.
The body was later identified by his family member as Bhim Bhuyan of Romai tea estate.
Recently, a post was shared in social media that an ambulance driver Irfan Khan saved the life of a patient by providing him oxygen in the ambulance. The patient was none other than Bhim Bhuyan.
The man has been termed as a hero by the people in social media for saving a life.
Sources said the ambulance driver had taken the Covid positive patient to Don Bosco Covid Care Centre for admission. Later he was referred to AMCH.
“He was taken to AMCH on May 28 for admission by 108 Ambulance. But from the casualty ward the patient went missing under mysterious circumstances,” sources here informed.
Talking to this correspondent, Ambarish Borthakur, garden manager of Romai tea estate said, “On May 27, Bhim Bhuyan had tested Covid-19 positive, he was shifted to Don Bosco Covid Care Centre but he was not admitted there. They had referred him to AMCH for admission. On Saturday, his family members went to Don Bosco Covid Care Centre to enquire about him. They said that he was shifted to AMCH. But Don Bosco Covid Care Centre didn’t inform us about the matter.”
Borthakur said, “His family member didn’t get a lead on his whereabouts in AMCH and complained to us. We also enquired about him and couldn’t find any trace of him. Police then found an unidentified body of a man from the footpath of AMCH road. After that the family member identified the body as Bhim Bhuyan’s. It’s a medical lapse because he went missing from AMCH. We have asked for an inquiry into the matter to Dibrugarh deputy commissioner.”
“Irfan Khan saved Bhim Bhuyan’s life and we are aware about things till there. But after that what had happened it is not clear to us. We also praised the heroic act of the driver,” said the manager.
Meanwhile, Dibrugarh deputy commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha ordered an inquiry into the incident.
“I don’t know much about the incident. I have asked Dibrugarh SP for an inquiry into the incident,” Jha said.
Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra said, “We have started our inquiry. Right now, we can’t say much about the case because we have checked all his admission records.”
