Springbok flyhalf Elton Jantjies could be set for a move to Japanese club NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes, where his former Lions mentor Johan Ackermann is currently the head coach.
According to Rapport, an agreement between player and club will be reached.
Jantjies is currently in France turning out for Pau in the Top 14, though he was expected to return to the Lions after his short-term stint in Europe.
The 30-year-old last played under Ackermann at the Lions in 2017 and was the coach's first-choice flyhalf throughout that golden period for the Johannesburg franchise.
Ackermann, meanwhile, left the Lions to take up the head coach position at Gloucester, but he has been in Japan at the Red Hurricanes since last year.
Jantjies, who has spent the bulk of his professional career at the Lions, has amassed 37 Test caps since making his Springbok debut in 2012 and is a World Cup winner.
