Krispy Kreme, the American doughnut brand and coffeehouse chain, is opening a new factory near Naas, Co Kildare.

Last week, Krispy Kreme posted a job advertisement seeking a new food production manager at “Naas Factory”, which is to be based in nearby Ladytown. According to the advert, the Naas factory will be Krispy Kreme’s “first site to produce and deliver” its doughnuts.

The Naas factory site is also set to have its own fleet, with the advert indicating it will be open in August.

The ad said its first store in Blanchardstown had been “so successful” that it now wants to expand that success “not just with retail shops and supermarkets, but creating an online presence,” adding that Naas was its next stop.

The food production manager role will see them responsible for leading product quality, quantity, maintenance, and factory performance plus supporting the site’s general manager.

It will initially be based in Blanchardstown, Co Dublin, for induction and training before moving to Naas when the factory opens later this year.

Krispy Kreme declined to comment.

In April, Krispy Kreme announced it would be expanding its footprint across the country.

The Blanchardstown branch of Krispy Kreme, which opened in 2018, is to supply doughnuts for branded cabinets at 20 outlets, including Tesco and Tesco Extras in Clarehall, Naas, Maynooth, Tallaght and Stillorgan, and at Circle K at Kill North.

A second standalone outlet is planned for the Central Bank plaza on Dame Street in Dublin, with Krispy Kreme indicating more would follow.

Krispy Kreme’s most recent accounts revealed Irish sales hit nearly €6.6m in 2019, with operating profits of around €1.84m.
