RAMANATHAPURAM: Villagers of Valinokkam in Ramanathapuram district found some skeletal remains on the sea shore on Friday, creating quite a buzz. Based on an alert from a villager, police conducted an inquiry and said the place could have been used as a burial ground earlier. Police sources said they excavated the area and found four skeletons. However, only one of them could be recovered. Forensic officials who checked the remains told the police that they belong to a body buried at least 20 years ago. Villagers told the police that similar skeletons were found on the shore about seven years ago too. then revealed that they were more than 40 years old. Police said the place could have been used by the Muslim community as a burial ground. Police concluded the inquiry as they did not find anything suspicious.
