Hyderabad: The Department of Post has rescued to the rescue of people, especially those living in rural areas of the state of Telangana, to register for Covid vaccination. People who are having trouble registering for vaccination can now approach post offices.
Since many people in the countryside do not have smartphones, the department devised this free service to help people register and make an appointment for the Covid-19 vaccination is carried out by the state government. And even if they have one, most of them have trouble accessing the CO-WIN app for a variety of reasons, including network issues.
People in rural areas are generally not very comfortable with the use of mobile applications. Even in urban areas, many people, including workers in different fields, do not have the resources (limited mobile data) to access the app to register their names for vaccination.
This is where post offices with special access to the app stepped in to serve such people. The post offices help people, especially in rural areas, to register for vaccination, K Venkata Rami Reddy, assistant director, postmaster general, headquarters region, said in a press release on Sunday.
Currently, this service has been launched in 36 main post offices, 643 sub-post offices and ten branch post offices in the headquarters region in Hyderabad and the Hyderabad region in the Telangana circle. In the next phase, about 800 more branch post offices will be included in this service.
People must reach the post office with the prescribed photo ID card and mobile phone, where the registration process will be completed with a one-time password. The staff of the Post Office will use the Co-WIN application from the BO-CSC through a mobile app, for which no service charge will be charged and the public can use the facility for free.
