Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): With the decline in the number of corona cases, government hospitals will start routine treatment of non-Covid patients on Monday. Emergency services for non-Covid patients had been continuing at Hamidia Hospital, but routine check-ups were closed due to the spurt in Covid cases. Other hospitals, such as the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and JP Hospital were totally dedicated to Covid treatment.

The departments will not work to their full capacity, but routine check-ups and out-patients’ departments (OPDs) will start functioning as the government hospitals will wait for the impact of the graded unlocking in the state and, if corona remain under control, then all the departments will start functioning to their full capacity.

AIIMS was totally dedicated to the treatment of Covid patients with 500 beds. Non-Covid patients were denied medical treatment. But now, it is going to resume its OPD operations and other routine check-ups on Monday.

Similarly, Hamidia Hospital will start routine check-ups of non-Covid patients on Monday. Only emergency cases of non-Covid patients were considered during corona time. But now, routine check-ups will be started.

JP Hospital (district hospital) has started diagnosing non-Covid patients. According to the doctors, with the decline in the number of corona cases, non-Covid patients’ cases are being considered. The departments are not working to their full capacity, but treatment has already started there.

‘Talks with govt still on’

‘We’ve taken the initiatives to start our OPD and other routine check-ups for non-Covid patients. Talks with the government are still on, but, hopefully, these operations will start on Monday. Full-fledged functioning of the departments can’t be started as we’ll wait for the impact of the graded unlocking. If the number of corona cases increase, we’ll be in a position to provide treatment and, if corona remains under control even after unlocking, we’ll start the operations of all the departments in a full-fledged manner. From Monday, hopefully, we’ll be starting routine check-ups and the OPD.’

‘Routine check-ups to start’

‘Now that the number of corona cases is on the decline, we’re going to start routine check-ups of non-Covid patients. We were already considering emergency cases at Hamidia Hospital even at the height of the corona pandemic.’
