Couple end lives in Banaskantha

Palanpur: A couple allegedly committed suicide as the two families and the community were against their marriage. The incident came to light on Friday morning when villagers saw their bodies hanging from a tree in the outskirts of Manekpur village about 18 kms from Deesa in Banaskantha, informed police sub Inspector BJ Chawda.
The deceased were identified as Vaktaji Thakor (21) and Asmita Thakor (18). Vaktaji’s wife had deserted him after which he developed a relationship with Asmita. Despite being from the same caste their families and the village community opposed the marriage as they were cousins, a police official informed. Vaktaji used to earn a living by practicing witchcraft.
